This driver currently allows a cmd->stop_src == TRIG_COUNT with a cmd->stop_arg of 0. The (*do_cmd) then sets up and starts the command without handling the "empty acquisition". This results in the interrupt function trying to transfer 0 data samples. Validate that the cmd->stop_arg is >= 1 in the (*do_cmdtest) to prevent the "empty acquisition". Signed-off-by:

Most of the comedi drivers that support async commands have some sort of timer to control the acquisition timing. For these drivers, Step 4 of the (*do_cmdtest) operations calls a ns_to_timer() function that converts the desired ns time of the command into a value used to set the timer. These ns_to_timer() functions also typically pass the cmd->flags in order to determine the desired rounding mode. Some of the drivers mask the cmd->flags with TRIG_ROUND_MASK when calling the ns_to_timer() functions. Move all the masking into the ns_to_timer() functions and just pass the cmd->flags directly. The cmd->flags member is an unsigned int, change the parameter type in the the ns_to_timer() functions to match. For aesthetics, rename the parameter in all the ns_to_timer() functions to 'flags'. Use the comedi_fc helper cfc_check_trigger_arg_is() to validate the trigger arguments when the source is TRIG_TIMER. Use cfc_check_trigger_arg_min() to vaidate the scan_begin_arg when the scan_begin_src and convert_src are both TRIG_TIMER. All the arguments are unsigned int, change the local variable to an unsigned int and rename it for aesthetic reasons. Signed-off-by:

Change the parameters of `comedi_buf_put()` to pass a pointer to the comedi subdevice instead of a pointer to the "async" structure belonging to the subdevice. The function puts a sample value in the comedi buffer, but currently only deals with 16-bit sample types. A future version could deal with 16 or 32-bit sample types depending on the value of the SDF_LSAMPL subdevice flag. The main aim at the moment is to replace all the `struct comedi_async *` parameters with `struct comedi_subdevice *` parameters in the comedi driver API. Signed-off-by:

When the async command 'scan_end_src' is TRIG_COUNT the 'scan_end_arg' is the cmd->chanlist_len. Fix a couple open-coded drivers. Add the check to the drivers that do not validate this command argument. The core validates that the cmd->chanlist_len is <= s->len_chanlist. During the post config after the attach the core also make sure that the s->len_chanlist is initialized. For clarity, initialize the s->len_chanlist in a couple drivers that are relying on the core to initialize it to '1'. Signed-off-by:

The comedi core checks if the (cmd->chanlist_len > s->len_chanlist) when the comedi_cmd is copied from user to kernel space by __comedi_get_user_cmd(). If so, the core returns -EINVAL and will not call the subdevice (*do_cmdtest) and (*do_cmd). Remove the unnecessary "max" checks in the comedi driver (*do_cmdtest) and helper functions. The `unsigned char chan_is_bipolar[]` member of `struct rtd_private` is used with some macros as a packed array of 1-bit values that indicate whether the corresponding entries in the hardware's "channel-gain" table have been set to a bipolar (1) or unipolar (0) range, as the raw samples from the hardware need to be cooked differently in each case. Replace the declaration of the member with a standard Linux bitfield using `DECLARE_BITFIELD()`, and replace the home-grown macros used access the bitfield with the standard Linux non-atomic bitop functions, `__set_bit()`, `__clear_bit()` and `test_bit()`. Also replace the hand-coded munging of 2's complement sample values with calls to `comedi_offset_munge()` and AND with `s->maxdata` to strip off any extra sign bits. Signed-off-by:

comedidev.h is the main kernel header for comedi. Every comedi driver includes this header which then includes a number of <linux/*> headers. All the drivers need <linux/module.h> and some of them need <linux/delay.h>. The rest are not needed by any of the drivers. Remove all the includes in comedidev.h except for <linux/dma-mapping.h>, which is needed to pick up the enum dma_data_direction for the comedi_subdevice definition, and "comedi.h", which is the uapi header for comedi. Add <linux/module.h> to all the comedi drivers and <linux/delay.h> to the couple that need it. Signed-off-by:
